Hello there, sweet friends! We’re back again for another round of my favorite day at FJ; it’s Mix-It Monday! I don’t think I’ll ever tire of these free-for-all days, where you can pull from your stash in abandon. Some of my favorite projects have come when I just let my favorite little things speak up!
For today I really wanted to play and get messy with my craft time, and I knew just the thing. It had been a bit since I’d worked in my selfie altered book, so I pulled it off my cart. Next I pulled out a bunch of colors from my FJ stash that I knew I wanted to use. I paired these with some gorgeous acrylic paint colors from my paint basket. I flipped open to a blank spread and spread my paint around in happy little semi-circles. I feel instantly in love with the mints, yellows, and pinks!
After I let my paint dry, next came the fun part of pulling little bits from my stash to accentuate my two selfie photos. I picked out some die cuts and vellum bits from the Rebekah, Katherine, Denise, & Shay collection. These all had bits with those gorgeous colors I’d chosen for my paint.
For my left side I aligned my two photos near the edge in the center. I tucked a tag underneath and added my title along the edge. I then used the amazing Shay stamp set to add a little phrase in the left bottom corner. All these little elements really help my photos pop.
For my right side page, I knew I wanted something extra special to accentuate those gorgeous colors some more. I pulled out some labels and speech bubbles from the Denise and Katherine collection. They paired perfectly with those gorgeous tiled numbers from the Katherine collection.
The next thing I played with was those amazing vellum hearts. I chose the white ones, and then stitched them on. I stuffed in a bunch of chipboard asterisk, confetti, and beads. They really are one of my favorite things ever! I get so giddy just looking at them.
To finish off the spread, I typed up my journaling on some tissue paper and then stitched it up with the numbered label stickers. It looks so effortless nestled in with each one, and I’m so pleased with the outcome. My journaling was all about how to rock this fun look, with the perfect wooden wedges and a fun dress!
A few more stamped sentiments and a bunch of black paint splatter, and my altered book spread was finished. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun creating. I got messy and played with gorgeous colors; I can’t wait to creak open that book again soon with my favorite FJ goodies!
