Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! Today I decided to step out of my comfort zone and created a mini album using products from the Jaimee Kit to document a Women’s Retreat that I went on last Fall. Be sure to check out the process video to see how this mini album came together!
I’ve seen lots of different styles of mini albums on Instagram recently and though I’d give it a try. I had several photos from a weekend trip to Hume Lake and while I wanted to document them, some of the photos weren’t really great quality and I had a lot of them. This fold out album allowed me to document all of the photos and use up some of the bits and pieces that I had in my Felicity Jane stash.
I found a cut file in the Silhouette store (Design ID 260912) for this fold out style mini album card and cut the different pieces out using a variety of papers from the Jaimee, Lindsey, Lola, Amber, and Jill kits. I love that the Felicity Jane papers have matching colors or tones of colors so you can mix and match from different kits!
I printed my photos in 2.5” squares so that they would fit in the different blank areas of the cut file. For the open areas, like the circle, I backed them with little shaker pockets that I made with patterned paper, acetate, and the Jaimee | Sequin Mix. Before assembling everything, I did go in and add some hand stitching detail around the cut out areas.
I used a lot of different Felicity Jane chipboard and die cut pieces that I had laying around my desk to embellish the different areas of the album. I really love how the Jaimee | Puffy Stickers added some dimension and texture to the layout.
The cut file had some great little details like the floral cut out spot and an accordion style mini mini album that you could stick inside. I had cut out several of the squares in different colors to use as a mat behind photos as well as the floral cut out area. Some more die cuts and puffy stickers brought in more of the colors I was trying to use and added some interest to each little square area. There were some awkward rectangular folds in the center section so I used the Lindsey | Chipboard Alpha Stickers to spell out my title, “Hume Lake”, which worked perfect in these little areas.
I love how there is a mini album within the mini album where I could include even more photos! Some of the photos weren’t able to be cropped to a square so I filled in the white areas with some stamped sentiments from the Next Stop | Stamp Set and the Sophie | Stamp Set.
I love how each square is it’s own little focal point! The shaker elements add a fun little interactive spot throughout the layout. The cut file also included a flap that you could turn into a pocket which allowed for another place to tuck a photo but you could also tuck little tags or journaling cards in there as well.
The file also included this adorable mini envelope which gave me a good spot to add some of my journaling about the weekend. This floral paper from the Jaimee Kit was one of my favorites and I love how it’s a focal point in this album. I used one of the flowers from the Jaimee | Puffy Stickers as a closure for the envelope.
I can’t believe that all of these photos, journaling, and embellishments folds up into this cute little album card! I used some ribbon from my stash as a belly band to keep it closed and dressed it up with a Brie | Fabric Flag and a puffy heart.
I’m pretty sure that I’m officially addicted to creating these mini albums! It definitely took some time to put together but it was a great way to document a stack of photos and use up some of the embellishments in my stash.
Until next time!
<3 Lindsey

what a beautiful layout. And I too love love love Hume Lake. My eldest daughter has worked there for over 10 years and is now at Hume New England. If you ever get a chance you need to go visit…it is beautiful.
Hume Lake does it so well.
Thank you for sharing
Blessings!
