Hi everyone!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend? I’m starting off this week with a traveler’s notebook spread for today’s Mix-It Monday post. I just love diving into my FJ stash and grabbing bits and pieces from different kits to use together. It’s so fun to revisit older kits and mix them in with the new!
For today’s project I decided to go with three colours only…green, black and white. I always love playing with all the pretty colours in the FJ kits, but sometimes it’s fun to narrow it down to just one hero colour with some neutrals. By focusing on green as the feature colour of my spread it really pops against the black and white which I love!
I went through my stash and grabbed some paper, stamps, a die cut and felt shape from the Millie Kit, the black Essentials Label Stickers then found some pretty green items from the Krystal Kit including a journaling card, branding strip, charm, chipboard piece, scalloped strip from the paper packaging and the Krystal Stamp Set. I also grabbed a black Grace Cardstock Designer Tab, the sweet chipboard potted plant from the Gabby Kit and some Essentials White Cardstock.
I cut the Millie “Chevron” paper and some white cardstock to traveler’s notebook size for my background pages, added the green gingham branding strip across the bottom of each then added machine stitching.
I chose the white cardstock background for the first page. I printed my journaling to fit inside the journaling card and added some stitching. I knew that I wanted to use the “love” stamp from the Millie Stamp Set as my title so I stamped it onto white cardstock and cut it out.
Before I adhered my journaling into place, I decided to add a little something extra to the background. I stamped the same “love” word directly onto the background just behind where the top of the journaling would go, and kept stamping without reinking up to the top of the page. The journaling was then adhered into place and I added the fussy cut “love” word on top with foam dots. I love the effect it gave!
At the bottom of the journaling card I added a die cut, then finished off the page with a black label, some stitching and the felt heart stapled on top.
On the second page is my 3 x 4 inch photo. I cut the designer tab in half, then used a punch to cut a slot so that I could add some twine. I positioned the tab at the top of the photo, added stitching, then adhered the photo into place making sure it was roughly lined up with the journaling on the previous page. I stapled the end of the twine to the top of the page.
I created a little embellishment cluster to the bottom right of the photo using the two chipboard pieces, the charm and stamped a phrase from the Millie Stamp Set. The scalloped strip was tucked in under bottom edge of the photo.
For the bottom of the page I stamped a phrase from the Krystal Stamp Set and the tiny heart stamp from the Millie Stamp Set onto a piece of cardstock then stitched across it to finish it off.
The completed pages were then adhered into my traveler’s notebook!
I have a video for you below if you'd like to watch my process.
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing how I created this project and that perhaps I’ve inspired you to dive into your stash and mix some FJ kits together too.
Thanks for stopping by!
