Noel Album Charm and Day 1 Pages │ Lydia Cost
Hello again, fellow FJ lovers! I am probably not the only one that is completely overwhelmed by daily December documenting, but each year I manage to make it happen. After pulling out the amazing star album and all the coordinating album items, I quickly realized that this would be a breeze. FJ thought of everything; All I had to do was unpack the clear dividers, pockets, and papers. I slid them all in first and realized that the base was already finished in 2 minutes flat. How amazing is that?!?
I knew that I would want to add a little pizazz to the spine of my album, so I pulled out the amazing wooden star that was part of the packaging if you ordered a Noel kit. I knew I wanted to use that wooden tag as my base for a fantastic album charm. The next amazing thing I added was some extra large and fluffy yarn. I think every crafter should have some of this on hand in your favorite colors, because it is gorgeous!
I cut three pieces from my skein and tied them in a bow. I then added a string of gold sequins to add another layer of textile. Another thing that I love to do is repurpose old jewelry. Using tarnished or broken fashion jewelry can be a really fantastic way to give those pieces new life. This amazing gold ball piece was from one of my favorite pairs of vintage earrings. Unfortunately I lost the mate to it at some point, so I was saving this singular one for something special. I removed the post and strung it up on the star tag. Adding a big charm like this is such a simple thing to do, but it adds such character to any album.
After my album charm, I got carried away with all the lovely Christmas crafting that I started in on my album pages. I really like to start each December album with a journaling page on the first day of December. I chose to start my album with one of the amazing clear dividers to go over my journaling page. I decked out the tab on the divider with an amazing gold glitter star, a striped FJ circle, and the fantastic chipboard numbers in this month’s kit! They layered on so beautifully with the help of a jumbo staple in copper.
For my journaling page, I used my typewriter to do a full page of journaling about the beginning of the cold season. I typed up my journaling in red on a recycled brown bag. I really loved the way this turned out, and it feels so whimsical and perfect to me. Using my favorite product, the acetate pop-ins, and with a little run through my sewing machine with red thread, it popped quite nicely into my album. I love to see it peaking through the clear divider.
I’ve certainly got some catching up to do this month in my album, but I won’t fret. I’ve realized that as long as I’ve documented my emotions and what was happening on each day in my phone with coordinating photos, then I have no problem breezing through December documenting. I hope you guys are inspired to do the same, and I promise once you get started, you won’t want to quit. It’s such a joy to document during the Holiday season.
