Hey everyone!
Tiffany here with a spread in my Note to Self binder.
For this spread I created a patchwork with various different papers from the Gabby, Tori and Amanda kits. I wanted the patchwork to look like a quilt of sorts and I simply wanted it as a decorative element next to my mini layout. It's been a very odd few weeks for me. I found myself taking it easy and resting more often than usual. To represent that, I decided to use this photo of my dog Joey lying comfortably on my bed.
I started out by cutting all of my chosen papers into 2x2 squares and sorting them out on the page in a well-balanced patchwork. Once I had them the way I liked, I added just a little bit of glue to stick them down, then ran the entire page through my sewing machine to properly get them down. I stitched a little border in white thread on each square. I wasn't too careful with this, so my borders are a bit wonky, but that just adds to the charm. Once they were all sewn down, I ruffled up the edges of each square to add a bit more texture and dimension to the relatively flat page. I wanted this page to look as textural as possible because I wasn't planning on adding anything else to it.
For the mini layout, I began by making a paper cluster around my photo using the leftover papers I used to cut out my 2x2 squares. They were all different sizes, but I made do by tearing and ruffling the edges. My goal was to have a nice layered look behind my photo. I added a white doily to the cluster as well to add a bit more texture.
Before I glued anything down, I went ahead and added a few black ink splatters to the page. They sort of seeped into the paper in a way that I didn't quite like, so once it dried, I pretty much covered most of it up except for a few splatters, which show at the bottom of my cluster.
Once I had that main cluster down, I began tucking all sorts of bits and embellishments into the sides of the cluster, so that it looks like they're all poking out from the edges. I added a few tags to the top, a Gabby floral on one side, a scrap piece of paper to the other side, and some labels at the bottom.
For my title, I used a Tori puffy sticker that says "This Day" and completed it with some Gabby alpha stickers to say "This Day of Rest." I also added the chipboard bit that says "One day at a time" on the other corner of my photo to support the title sentiment.
I finished off my spread by adding one of the heart chipboard bits to my photo and then sprinkling a few of the Tori epoxy dots about the page, especially near the ink splatters to give the entire thing a bit more oomph!
Definitely check out the process video below to get a better idea at how this entire spread came together!
