Hi FJ Friends!
It’s been so fun creating with the Ginny Kit and one of my favourite things in the collection would have to be the journaling cards. There are so many pretty colours and patterns to choose from and I love that you can customize them to suit whatever memories you want to document. Today I’m sharing a pocket page spread about our Mother’s Day earlier this year, that features six cards.
The “Oh Happy Day” card was perfect as the title of this spread. Unfortunately, while I was doing a previous project I somehow smudged black ink in one of the corners, so to solve that problem I used a circle die to cut it out so I could add it to the blue “7” card. I love how it looks against the pretty blue background! To create some texture I pierced some stitching holes around the circle and hand stitched with some pink embroidery thread.
While I was hand stitching the circle, I also had the idea to add some French knots to the centres of the multi-coloured scallop card. I searched for the matching colours in my embroidery thread collection, trimmed the card down and got to work. I love how the knots added a fun, textural element to the scallops! You’ll see more about how I used this card a little later.
To finish off the “Oh Happy Day” card I added a chipboard flower from the June Bits & Pieces pack and two little fussy cut leaves from the June floral paper. For the photo next to this card in the spread I simply added a die cut piece and a peony midi clip.
At the bottom of the first page is another photo. I used a label cut from the Ginny Labels paper at the top of the photo and stamped “Yes!” using the Ginny stamp set and finished off with a heart sticker and some staples.
The red journaling card was next. I cut a piece of vellum and stitched it to the bottom half of the card to create a pocket. I decorated the front of the pocket with a stitched fussy cut label, a chipboard flower with fussy cut leaves and the “Notes” puffy sticker from the Tori Kit. I used my computer and printer to print some journaling about my breakfast directly onto a Capri Story Tag and tucked it inside. Having the tag inside the pocket page doesn't bother me as I won't be reading the journaling on this tag very often and I can just pull it out when I want to.
At the top of the second page, I added some more printed journaling to the pink journaling card and added a little stitching.
Next to that is where I used the scallops with the French knots. I added some stitching and adhered it to the bottom of a 3 x 4 piece of white cardstock that had a stitched border. My photo was adhered to the top half of the card and I added another fussy cut label to the top. I stamped the word “love” then added a heart and “us” puffy sticker.
For the photo at the bottom of this page I added the “smile” puffy sticker and another heart.
The yellow journaling card is in the bottom right corner. I printed out a little more journaling, stitched around it and added a piece of pink cardstock fringe under the bottom edge, then finished off with another chipboard flower and fussy cut leaves.
