Hello there, lovely crafty friends! Today I’m thrilled to be sharing a scrapbook layout, that I created using the Julia collection. I’m patiently waiting for Mari to land on my crafty desk, but until then I was still drooling over these amazing goodies. For this one I had one of those just as your crawl into bed thoughts. I really wanted to cut one of my patterned papers along the diagonal and either twist it on its center or fold over the edges like a pinwheel. I wrote it down in my idea journal, and then when I woke up this morning, I started experimenting with the idea.
I know that I’ll be trying the paper twisting on my next layout, but for this one I went with more of a pinwheel folding approach. I used the lovely pink grid paper as my layout background. I then pulled out that lovely polka dot paper to cut into for my top layer. I trimmed this paper down by an inch on each side, and then pulled out my long ruler to measure along the diagonal. I left about a 3.5” gap near the middle, so that I wouldn’t be cutting all the way to the center on both sides.
Next I folded back each of the flaps, so that they could meet in the middle. I knew I’d be attaching an eyelet, so that I could pin them back with some pretty ribbon. I knew this would be one of my favorite features. I pulled out my Crop-a-Dile, so that I could set in some burnt orange eyelets, that matched the color scheme perfectly. I then chose some coordinating ribbon, so that I could anchor each of my folds to my layout.
Next I fussy-cut some of the amazing florals in this collection. I knew they would be perfect nestled underneath the flaps of my layout. Then I chose the two photos that I wanted to use on my layout, in the opened spaces on the left and right on the top and bottom. With a few journaling cards layered behind and some tissue paper for dimension, they popped up so prettily in both of those places. It was the perfect layout design for two wallet-sized photos.
Next, I pulled out the fabulous alpha stickers, so that I could add in my title. I really wanted to put a large title along the edges of my flaps, for an extra interesting punch of detail. I chose “Outside Together, Stunning Weather,” because it was the perfect sentiment to describe these photos and our fabulous time together.
I finished up the layout by adding in some extra florals. I then added in my journaling by tucking in a little tag below one of my photos. I really wanted to keep this unique layout clean of my handwriting, so as per usual, I tucked it away behind my photo.
I certainly loved creating this layout, and I hope it brought some of you inspiration. Be sure to jump over to the FJ Instagram feed today, to see a tutorial in the stories on how to create this fun layout design!
