Pretty Blooms Layout Inspiration | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey friends, it’s Kathleen here again and today I have another layout to share with you. The theme for this week was “Summer“ but I have to admit that I cheated a little bit ;) My photo was taken in Spring, when the Magnolia trees started to blossom. However, blooming trees and flowers for me generally mean better, warmer weather and sunny skies, which in turn means that Summer usually isn’t that far away ;)

When my Brooke kit arrived and I was looking through the papers, I immediately knew that I wanted to use the one with the black and white flowers on the one side as the background for a layout. I don’t often use a patterned paper for the basis of my layouts (in fact, I rarely do and so far I did it maybe about 10 times in all my time as a scrapbooker), so this was perfect because it is more of a “neutral“ (to me at least).

I trimmed the paper down a little bit so that I would be able to add a frame with the black and white diagonal striped paper on two sides. Apart from the two small strips of patterned paper on the left side, I also used the pink/white gingham branding strip on the bottom of my page to add some pops of colour to my page.

To give my photo some dimension, I layered it on top of a journaling card from the Brooke kit and then also put some of the white crepe ruffled trim underneath. I love the texture and softness this adds to the layout.

I didn’t want to add any more patterned papers to the flower paper part of the layout, so I decided to type my journaling on a piece of regular vellum (from my stash) and sew it next to my photo cluster.

For the title I used a die cut piece from the Brie die cuts and also spelled the word “Blooms“ with the gorgeous gold glitter foam alphabet stickers from the Kate kit.

To finish my page off, I added some watercolour splatters (I didn’t use mists because the watercolour splatters usually dry a little softer and aren’t as intense) and also used some of the Brooke puffy shapes around the page. And finally, for the centers of some of the flowers I used the epoxy dots from the Henley kit. I think they add the perfect little something to this layout and I love the glossy, dimensional look of them!

I hope you like this layout and feel inspired to get creating! Have you used the flower paper yet (or maybe the rainbow backside)? If so, please share what you made! I’d love to see :)

Thanks for stopping by!
