Hello everyone, it’s Lindsey! For 2019 I decided to jump in and try out a 12x12 Project Life album since I enjoyed the pocket pages of my December Daily so much. Since I don’t have a lot of experience or cards, I thought I’d take some time to create a bunch of neutral filler cards to make spreads a little easier.
Be sure to check out my video below to see a closer look at each card and how they came together.
I didn’t set out to create sets of cards but that’s how they sort of came together. I tried to keep the colors and patterns pretty neutral that way they could work with a variety of photos and products. The black and white patterned papers work great for this and it’s also a great way to use up some of your stash!
I really love dimension and textures but need to keep things a little flatter for this album so I stuck to these crepe paper rosettes rather than folded paper ones. I cut a patterned paper from the Hannah Kit to 3x4 size and embellished with some Brie | Chipboard Flair, Henley | Epoxy Dots, and punched some circles from paper scraps.
This one started out with a Jeana | Journaling Card as the base layered with a spotty tag from the Brie | Die Cut Shapes. I used a heart punch to punch out of a paper from the Amber | Paper Pack and white cardstock and also layered a Henley | Washi Sticker, all sewn together.
I like that I have room to come back in and add a personalized date when I use the card!
A spotty paper from the Brie | Paper Pack acts as the base for this card and I also cut apart one of the papers to use the frames as embellishment pieces on several cards. I grabbed a bunch of stamp sets during the Summer sale so I used this stamp from the Sophie | Stamp set for a sentiment and little heart detail. This one was finished off with some leftover Jeana | Die Cut Shapes.
I love the soft pink Jeana | Journaling Card for this one! Branding strips, like this one from the Jeana | Paper Pack, act as great layering pieces and I added some extra detail with some stitching. I topped it with some hearts from the Jeana | Chipboard Hearts and some Brie | Die Cut Shapes.
For this set I want to play with some bolder colors and fun textures!
I kept this card super simple with just a paper from the Brie | Paper Pack and a cut file from the Silhouette Studio Shop. I normally wouldn’t take the time to add stitched details on cards but working in a giant batch like this made it more efficient to add some stitching to multiple cards all at once.
This black and white striped card from the Amber | Journaling Cards was a great one for adding some Jeana | Puffy Stickers, a Brie | Chipboard Flair, and a stamped sentiment using the Willow | Stamp Set.
I had been hoarding these Brie | Layering Butterflies but decided to go ahead and use a few on this Jeana | Journaling Card. I wanted the butterflies to be the main element so I finished the card with a little stitching detail and a Lola | Chipboard Shape.
Not all of the cards have to be super detailed and layered! For this one I just added an Emeline | Die Cut Label to a Brie | Journaling Card with some tiny staples. That’s it!
I’m obsessed with the black and white patterns with pops of pink florals and cacti in this set! It’s so easy to mix and match different kits since there are usually colors that repeat or are close matches.
A striped paper from the Lola | Paper Pack acts as the base for this one, layered with some branding strips from the Jeana | Paper pack, an Amber | Puffy Sticker, and a piece from the Amber | Die Cut Shapes.
This woodgrain Amber | Journaling Card was another item I was hoarding and finally committed to using! These frames from the Brie | Paper Pack are great for layering behind a gold, heat embossed sentiment like this one from the Willow | Stamp Set. I finished it off with a Jeana | Die Cut Shape and some tiny staples.
This one was pretty similar to the formula I used on the previous card...a Jeana | Journaling Card for the base, layered with a frame, heat embossed sentiment from the Zoey | Stamp Set, and finished off with some more Jeana | Die Cut Shapes and a Lola | Chipboard Shape.
How pretty is this floral Jeana | Journaling Card!? I added some strips of scrap paper from the Lola | Paper Pack and Hannah | Paper Pack to break up the floral pattern a little. Some Henley | Pom Pom trim, stitched on, finishes up this simple but cute card!
So there you go, 12 different filler cards ready to go! This was a great way to use up some of my stash and commit to use some of those pieces that I was hoarding because they were my favorites. I plan on doing this every couple of months to cut down on paper scraps and little die cut pieces. I can’t wait to share my Project Life spreads during 2019!
Until next time!
<3 Lindsey
