Rainbow Layout | Leigh Ann Odynski

Rainbow Layout | Leigh Ann Odynski

Hello crafty friends! Leigh here, to share an 8.5 x 11 layout turned horizontally. I was inspired by the Rainbows and Flowers paper from the Brooke kit, and decided to base the whole layout on the soft, beautiful colors in this patterned paper.

I placed the Rainbow paper, and honestly, I couldn't bear to cut off anymore of that gorgeous color, so I turned the page on its side to use the whole length and only had to trim a half inch from both sides of the pattern.

I custom mixed watercolors to coordinate with the pattern, and splattered them on with a water brush. I stitched coordinating thread under each color as well. The heart die cuts were staggered to create some movement on the page, and those were stitched through also.

The photos for this page were shaped in a photo editing program, and trimmed with scissors after printing. With three heart die cuts and two photos, there are an odd number of hearts on the layout. I punched a variety of leafy, and floral shapes from matching patterns in the Brooke kit, and layered them on at the edge of the rainbow pattern.

Do you have any unconventional ideas for a page? Try it out and see what happens. I find I have the most fun when I let my imagination run wild, and give myself the freedom to play with my supplies. I hope you enjoyed today's post, and thank you for visiting today!
