Remember That Smile TN Spread | Lynne Ashcraft
Hello my crafty friends. Happy August and a Very Happy 5th Birthday month to Felicity Jane!
I am excited to share a traveler’s notebook spread with you today using the Elizabeth Kit. I had this vision in my head when I got this kit that I must cut hearts out of the patterned papers and sew them on a background. What I did with those pages from there was still undecided but I felt the need to create this background tugging at my creative heart strings. So I cut out a bunch of hearts with my electronic die cutting machine and sewed them across two traveler’s notebook pages.
Once I saw them on the page, I thought they would work well with my son’s spring school photo. When I first placed the photo, it was a little lumpy from the hearts and stitching behind it, so I added some strips of cardstock to fill in the gaps between the rows of hearts. This ended up helping to create a flatter base for the photo to adhere to.
From there, I started working on the title. I had been coveting the "smile" acetate shape from the Megan kit, intending to use it with this photo, so it worked out perfect underneath the sewn hearts for a quick and simple title.
The final touch was adding the fussy cut scalloped border from the Elizabeth kit papers and a few of the epoxy heart stickers to add a little more blue
It turned out to be a super quick and simple layout but definitely one of my favorites. I am so glad I have pushed myself to try out a new (to me) technique of sewing on a layout. What new (to you) techniques have you tried lately?
