Repetition on Layouts | Adelina Starace

Happy Spring peeps! Adelina here showing you how I documented Week 12 in my Project Life Album. Spring is really showing up here in the Pacific Northwest, so I wanted to keep the colors for this layout bright! I used the Brooke digital kit for this layout with a few bits & pieces from some other Felicity Jane kits.

Sometimes the colors for my layouts don’t always coordinate, so I try to repeat something on the layout to pull it all together. Before I picked a repeating element, I started with the title card for the week. I wanted this to set the color palette for the hybrid elements I’d be using on this layout. I printed some of the die cut shapes from the Brooke digital kit & layered them on a 4x6 card. The 4x6 card is part of the digital papers that come with the Brooke kit. I then took one of the die cut sentiments from the Henley kit and adhered it. I took some yellow twine I had in my stash to hold the two tags together. Then I added staples as an embellishment to finish off the title card.

Next I decided on the repeating element for this layout. I went with the Kate Word Stickers and a label printed from the Brooke digital kit. I offset the sticker on the label and adhered it with two staples. I really like the look of staples on my layouts. They add nice visual interest. I repeated this same idea on the image that is on the opposite corner.

Since yellow was so prominent in the daffodils in the photo at the center of this layout, I wanted that to be the punch of color for my journal card. My husband was working from home for most of the week, so our youngest had the opportunity to spend a lot of one on one time with us. It really made me think how much our children love the moments they have our undivided attention. So I used that story on the yellow journal card I printed up from the digital kit. I stapled a die cut shape with the sentiment “today” from the Alexis kit.

One of the things I really enjoy about the digital kit is the ability to type up journaling for layouts. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I can’t write small enough to fit my entire story on that tiny 3x4 card! The digital journal card allowed me to type up the story and ensure it fit before printing it. I think it’s important to have your handwriting in your project life album; it’s nice for my kids to be able to see & recognize my handwriting. There are, however, times that I mostly type it up. Especially when the story is longer!
