it is Jana here today. Are you enjoying your summer and getting some time to create with the beautiful Elizabeth kit? I usually have very little time during summer to sit down and craft but using the kit makes things so much easier and quicker!
After our holiday I put together this layout which will go into our family album. I am planning to do a mini album too but I like it when I have a little mention in the big album as well. It is always hard for me not to use all the photos so I was thinking how to get LOTS of them onto just ONE layout. Oh yes, the more pictures the better! That is my crafting motto! So I came up with an idea to use collages of photos. I also wanted to use big letters to spell the name RIGA but I don't have any alphabet that would match my needs. Well, time to make my own!
I had this idea of using the collages as a background paper. I made three of them (three collages of 4x6 inches each). Two went on the top of the layout and two strips I decided to use at the bottom as well. Then I drew the four letters on white cardstock and cut them out using my craft precision knife. I used moosegummi to give the white cardstock a bit of dimension and to make the RIGA letters stand out nicely.
Then I had four pictures of us. It took a bit of shuffling around to find the best compostion. I decided to use the pretty alphabet from the kit again and created the title ADVENTURES. It is probably the first time I have ever used the alphas in zigzag order! I usually make the titles look straight.
As the last step .. embellishments! The most enjoyable yet difficult (for me) part. I always struggle in between adding too much and adding too little. This time I went for some backing paper, leaves and hearts. I think that the photos already make the layout pretty busy.
