Scrapbook Layout with Handmade Strawberries | Ulrike DoldJun 07, 2021
Hi FJ friends!
Ulli here with you today and I am so happy to show you a new mix & match layout. I love to combine all the super pretty FJ collections and this layout was made with the gorgeous Capri collection, some Grace embellishments and the lovely Gabby Puffy Alphabet in teal.
First I cut Essentials White Cardstock to 11x11 inches. Then I made a frame with the wonderful Capri "Spots & Scallops" paper in 1.5 inches wide. I used the 0.5 inch of the overlapping paper to glue the white cardstock on the patterned paper. Then I used white thread and stitched with my sewing machine around the border.
I was so inspired by all the sweet strawberries that I wanted to make my own big strawberries for this layout. I often make own shapes if they are not too difficult and I don’t use my electronic cutting machine. If you do this your project gets a totally unique style. I drew my own strawberries on the coral and teal Capri cardstock with a pencil and cut it out with scissors. Then I decided to also use the teal side of the "Diamonds & Strawberries" paper for the green leaves of the strawberry top. I also made two strawberries from the Essentials White Cardstock too because I love to mix white elements with colored ones. I used matching thread in teal and coral, and stitched with my sewing machine around the strawberries and the strawberry leaves then glued them together. For the white shapes I used white thread. Then I layered them on the left side of my 12x12 inch layout on the top and used some 3D dots to add more dimension. I used the Tori and Julia Epoxy Dots in blush, mustard and coral on the strawberries for their typical spots.
I searched for a matching FJ collection for the Capri kit and found the wonderful previous Grace collection. I wanted to use the striped Designer Tab on my picture and the cute Grace Die Cuts for my layout. I added the designer tab on the left side of my picture and added the cute "Happy" Capri Puffy Sticker to it. I also used the mustard circle die cut shape with the heart from the Capri collection to decorate the picture. I added it on the biggest strawberries and glued the wonderful Grace rose underneath it with 3D dots. I used the Grace Die Cut Word "Smile" for the title under my picture.
I used the wonderful Capri Die Cut Shapes to decorate the bottom right side of my 12x12 page. I began with adding the cute clipboard in mustard and blush and used the "Hello My Name Is" card to add the name of my son with the sweet Gabby Puffy Alphabet in teal there. Of course they match perfectly to the teal in the Capri collection. I added the "Watch Me Grow" Puffy Sticker on the blush banner and also used two labels (Capri & Grace) under this coral card. I added the "Wonderfully Made" die cut word there with 3D dots and on the top the "Chapter No.5" label. I love this color and the teal of it matches perfectly to the shirt on my son in this kindergarten picture.
I added the date when the picture was taken with the FJ Roller Date Stamp on a piece of white cardstock, cut it smaller and glued it on the tiny tag in mint from the Capri collection. I used thin mint ribbon to decorate this tiny tag with a bow. Then I placed it on the smaller strawberry in coral beside the picture. I added the sweet colorful Capri puffy banner sticker on the white strawberries to make a little connection to the right side of this page.
I fussy cut some of the small and super cute strawberries from the Capri "Diamonds & Strawberries" paper and added them around my handmade strawberries and on the right side of my layout. They are too cute and they made my layout much more playful and sweet. Then I used the scalloped die cut shape in blush form the Grace collection and added it on the left side of the top to the stitched border. I wrote my journaling by hand along the bottom left edge and splattered black ink across my page. To finish off my layout I added some more die cut shapes (Grace "Stars" & Capri "Heart") and stamped some hearts from the Grace stamp set on my page. Then I added two of the gingham puffy hearts from the Millie kit on my layout too.
I hope you like my mix & match layout with the handmade strawberries and maybe I could inspire you to make your own shapes yourself too.
Have a wonderful week!
