Hello FJ Friends!
Are you ready for a new sketch challenge? It's always one of my favourite posts each month as I love to see how each person interprets the sketch and puts their own spin on their project. This month creative team member Tiffany Julia has designed the sketch for us and it's so pretty!
I love all the gorgeous florals around the photo in this design! Let's take a look at Tiffany's beautiful layout and see what she has to tell us about her project.
Hey everyone!
Tiffany here with the September sketch! This is my very first time creating a sketch and it's quite exciting to share! My idea was to create a composition that resembled a tree, with the title/journaling acting as the trunk and the florals coming out of the photo as the branches and leaves. I think this sketch is super specific, but I'm curious to see how you adapt it into your own.
For my layout, I began by matting some white cardstock onto that dark teal striped paper. Then I added a few paint splatters, aiming towards the center of the page so that the splatters go outward. Since my photo cluster sits in the middle, I wasn't too concerned about making a mess at the center. While I waited for that to dry, I fussy cut the florals out of that beautiful floral paper from the Gabby kit.
Once my page dried, I created my photo cluster by layering a few cardstock pieces and a doily behind the photo. I then added the fussy cut florals behind the photo, so it looks like they are growing from the photo. I embellished around the floral/photo cluster with a few epoxy dots from the Tori kit.
My title sits below. I mixed the mint alphas from the Tori kit with the tiny teal alphas from the Gabby kit to write out "rooted in florals and art." I used the chipboard ampersand from the Gabby kit for my "and" then embellished it with a chipboard heart. Just slightly above the title and a bit off centered, I added the chipboard piece that says "my story."
While this layout may seem super busy, it's actually very simple and came together quickly. I really hope this sketch and layout inspires you and I can't wait to see what you come up with!
xx Tiffany

Team member Lindsey has also created a pretty layout using the sketch as inspiration. Let's have a look at what she came up with...
For my take on the sketch, I chose to use a layered die set from my stash with a variety of the colored cardstocks that come with the Felicity Jane paper packs to create the floral element of the sketch. I didn't stray too much from the sketch for the rest of the layout but I did bring in some additional chipboard hearts to go along with the ones from the Gabby Collection as well as one of the chipboard ampersands from the Amber Collection which are a staple in my craft space. I love the size of the Gabby alphas and they are perfect to mix and match with other alphas like I did here with some pink Essentials Puffy Alphas.

Sometimes it needs ages until I scrap important memories but I think sometimes the pictures are waiting for one special collection. When I saw the wonderful Gabby collection with this beautiful floral paper in dark green and soft pink and the die cuts and alphabets in teal I knew directly that I had to scrap a picture from my Scrapbook Werkstatt adventure last year. Its one year now that I took over the company and I never wrote the memory down in my scrapbooking albums. The beautiful sketch from Tiffany was perfect for my picture with lots of journaling under it. First I cut a big frame which was 3 inch wide on every side of the wonderful "Floral & Arches" paper and cut a piece of Essentials White Cardstock to 10x10 inches. I glued the white cardstock on the big frame and stitched with my sewing machine around the border. I used some metal dies and made many little branches of white cardstock to add them under my picture, which I added with 3 D dots on my page. I also used some of the wonderful die cut flowers between the white branches. For the title I’ve used the cute FJ Essentials Puffy Alphabet in Dusty Rose and the cute little teal puffy alphabet stickers from the Gabby collection. I adore the super cute chipboard shape of the little journal and I glued it between the long typed journaling of my layout. The Gabby stamp set with its wonderful phrases was perfect to document my big adventure. I used a label sticker from my company as an embellishment on this page and the color matched perfectly to the wonderful soft pink from the Gabby collection. For the final touch I added some of the Gabby die cut labels here and there and glued some of the chipboard hearts on my 12x12 page. I used the Tori Epoxy Dots to finish off my page. I hope you like my version of the wonderful September sketch and you feel inspired!

Finally I'm excited to share my layout with you too. I loved working with Tiffany's sketch and it was the perfect design to scrap this photo of my parents. Here's my layout,,,
For my layout I decided to have a border on either side of my page instead of right around the edge like the sketch did. This way I had a little more room to go down the centre of the page with my photo and other elements. I used papers from the Gabby Paper Pack for the border strips. I fussy cut some of the flowers from the Gabby Floral patterned paper to use as embellishments around the photo and I used foam dots behind them to add dimension. I added some Gabby die cuts to the top and bottom of the photo, a Gabby chipboard heart to the right of the photo and a chipboard tag from the Harper kit to the bottom left of the photo. For the title I went with the Tori Puffy Alphabet Stickers as I loved the colour and I used an ampersand from the Shay Kit since I had already used my large Gabby Kit ampersand die cut on a previous project. I added journaling strips under the title and a label with the date at the bottom of the page to finish it off.
