Hi everyone! Suse and Dannielle with you today with our fun sketch challenge, this time designed by Dannielle. Isn't it just gorgeous? Even her handwriting rocks.
Now you won't believe this, but I was fully intending to 'do a Dannielle' with this page... I just adore her clean, minimal style and have been trying hard to master it myself recently. As you can see, that plan went a little bit off the rails, ha ha!
The trouble is, when everything in the kit is this delicious, you just want to dig in and try it all, don't you? Not quite the minimalist approach, but perhaps I just need to go with what comes naturally, eh?
And why use a few banners when you can throw a load on there? Lol.
And I'll be honest with you, that white paint was an "oops, my journalling's gone wrong" measure. But I really like it! Phew. Now to see what loveliness Danielle's created...
I'll start off by saying that Suse and I have very different styles, so I couldn't wait to see her take on my simple sketch. I think we can all agree that she did not disappoint!
I stuck to my usual approach of simple with a lot of white space. I absolutely love this picture of my little girl that I took on her first day of Pre-K, so keeping my layout a little more on the calmer side really let my picture be the star of the show!
Speaking of star of the show, I decided to use a few of the star embellishments that came in the kit. I like that they are all the same shape, but made out of different materials!
When making simple layouts, I always look for little ways to add more detail. On this spread I decided to draw a few messy lines around some of my paper elements. It is a technique I don't use very often, but I am always happy about it when I do.
I used a combination of things to create my title, and honestly it might be my favorite part. Below my title I added a bit of journaling, and then I called this layout done.
I hope Suse and I were able to inspire all of you to create. If you use our sketch, don't forget to leave a link in the comments or post it to the Felicity Jane Subscribers Facebook page. We would love to take a look at it!
