Sketch Saturday | Mandy & Marybeth

Hi, everyone!!  Mandy & Marybeth here today, and we're excited to share with you another {super fun} sketch- this one created by Mandy!  So let's get started, shall we?

So I'm just going to throw this out there- I'm normally not very good at following scrapbook sketches because my idea of scrapbooking is more like tossing things haphazardly down on paper in no particular order and playing around with them until I either give up or find the sweet spot for every object I want to include.  ;)  BUT, this sketch worked perfectly for me from the start.

I really love all the little extras that came with the "Hello Christmas" kit!!  All of those little pieces really add the perfect touch to any layout.  (Especially that bow!! *swoon*)

For the title and journaling, I decided to put it all on a piece of vellum since the background was a "busy" print.  I used my old typewriter to type it out on some white paper, and then I just cut the journaling into strips and glued it on down.  :)

I decided to use one of the half-tags from the cut-apart sticker sheet on the bottom corner, too.  I really like how it all turned out.  Then I just sewed the edges, fluffed the paper to give it that fun worn look I love, and that was it!

I really loved making this!  Now let's look at Mandy's layout, which I know is bound to be gorgeous!

Wow, how absolutely gorgeous is Marybeth's layout!!

I had lots of fun creating this sketch and then making a layout from it! The photo that I documented is one of my three kids and my nephew at my Mum's 60th birthday back in June. I really love capturing the beautiful friendship that my kids have with their cousins.

For my layout I used the November 'Oh, deer' kit. I love this kit... It's so perfect for documenting family memories!

I created a cluster of pretty embellishments in the top left hand corner of the layout. Although this wasn't on the sketch, I just felt like my layout needed something to balance out the large floral. The cluster includes a die cut label from the Emeline kit, a flower from the November cut apart sheet, a flair button, and an acetate heart.

One of my favourite things in this kit are the acrylic words! The word 'family' was just perfect as the title for this layout!

How gorgeous are the florals in this kit!! (Aren't they always?!) I fussy cut the larger one from the cut apart sheet, and then also fussy cut some leaves from the floral patterned paper to tuck in around the flowers. I added foam tape behind the flowers and leaves to give them some extra dimension.

I included some simple journaling, just to document the who, what, where and when, and I finished the layout off with some of the pretty sequins from the kit.
