Hello everyone,
and hello 2020! Happy new year! I am so glad to be here again with you all! I don't know about you but at the beginning of new year I am full of new energy and crafting spirit and excited to try new things. And the new Madison kit is just so good for it! What do you think: is Madison good for a wintery layout? Oh yeah! She is! Let's see more!
I fell in love with the Madison papers. I especially think the flowers and woodgrain pattern are just amazing. And as soon as I saw the red paper with pinkish dots I saw snow. I couldn't get this idea out of my head and decided I would use Madison for a wintery layout. Yay!
I have had this cut file of a snowflake for a year and have been saving it for the right time. I simply traced the pattern on the red paper and hand cut it out. Again, I wish I had a cutting machine to help me but in the end it was just so relaxing that I didn't mind.
I struggled a bit with the photos. I wanted to use as many as possible (as usual) but I found the red snowflake quite bright. So I went for black and white backing paper and it helped. I try to avoid centre orientated composition where possible so I decided to place the snowflake a bit higher on the layout. I think it makes it a bit more interesting and different.
The red on the snowflake paper and my son's red coat were a perfect match. I am always so happy when I can see the papers and photos naturally go together. It is always so easy to go to my Felicity Jane stash and get coordinating embellishments because all the kits are just so easy to mix and match! Here I used the puffy phrases from the Shay kit.
Oh and I love the little puffy alphabet stickers! Such a beautiful font and the size is just perfect. Fits everywhere. I also used the "thank you card" that you get with you Felicity Jane kits. The beautiful cross stitched heart is just a brilliant addition. I was tempted to hand stitch it but decided to go for a simpler version.
Since the snowflake takes all the space I knew it was going to be a struggle to put my journaling somewhere. Therefore I decided I will go for some hidden journaling. The vellum pocket fronts are just perfect for this! I used one to back my photo and slid in a tag with all the important information. The black ribbon is from the Noel kit.
There you go. With Felicity Jane you can just create anything you desire! And it is so much fun! Thank you for being here with me and have a lovely start to the new year! And may your creative juices flow!
