Spring 2016 Layout | Ulrike Dold

Ulli here with you today to share a spring themed layout with you!

Like many of you, I'm waiting (a little bit impatiently) for my beautiful Brooke Kit and so I decided to do a layout with my Alexis Kit and some pieces from the Henley Kit. I always associate spring with pastel colors and flowers and so I had to use the gorgeous floral patterned paper from the Alexis Kit. I searched for a cut file and cut the playful word spring with my Silhouette. 

Usually I use white backgrounds for my layouts, but I wanted to let the title pop out a little bit and so I cut the aqua cardstock from the Alexis solid papers in the size 8.5 x 11 inch.

I wanted to use a photo from our newborn son in the end of may 2016 because of the soft pastel blue colors in it. It was taken on the day of the discharge from the hospital after the birth. 

First I typed the journaling with my typewriter centered on the bottom of my layout. 

Then I used the polka heart paper from the Henley kit to mat my photo and glued the border from the Alexis PL card "This Happened Today" behind my photo. I wrapped a little piece of tulle over the right side of my photo and fixed it with my stapler. 

I punched out a bow and glued it together using the Alexis paper Stripes & Spots. I fixed a clothespin on the left side and glued the photo with foam squares above my journaling. Then I glued the bow on the border below from the photo.

I splattered some gold spray across the page and added my title. I began with the first and the last letter from the word spring and used foam dots for the letters "R" and "N" to add them some dimension. Under it I added the year 2016 with the super cute puffy alphabet from the Alexis Kit in white. 

I added a bunch of the adorable brushed gold sequins from the Henley Kit under, beside and on my photo and stamped the phrase "Here & There" from the Reagan stamp set between my photo and the journaling. I wrapped a little bit of tulle on the top of the layout and fixed it with the mini clip in gold from the Willow Kit and also with my stapler.

To finish off my page I splattered a second time some gold paint across my page.
