Hello fellow crafters! Today, I'm sharing a layout for Outdoors week at Felicity Jane. I thought the Alexis Kit was a good match for the clean bright colors in my photo. Summer, here in the desert, means pool time, ice skating, or any other way to stay cool in the Mohave Desert.
Circles came to mind when I printed my pool-float photo, and I filled the whole page with a variety of different circles in varying sizes and patterns. I cut the largest circle in the center of the pink background paper to focus on the photo. I thought about using a circular photo, but decided to leave it in a rectangle shape so that it would stand out.
In this close up you can see the title "Summer" created with the FJ Essentials Puffy Stickers. For the journaling circle, I punched an Alexis Kit journaling card, and wrote out the journaling by hand. I like to vary my pages and use hand-writing and typed or computer journaling intermittently. The strong vertical lines in the branding strip at the bottom, ground the page and make it seem more active to the eye.
The different layers of craft foam and foam dots create more dimension on the page. The photo is on craft foam, and a few of the circles are raised up on foam dots. The different layers create more interest since there is one square dominating the page. I do love circle photos on a page though, and can't wait to try out another page with just circles.
The stitching on the page gives some much needed texture, and you can see the white stitching on the punched leaf shapes and the divided half pattern circles. The stitching around the largest circle and two more punched shapes creates an odd number of stitched circles. You can see the stitching on the acetate numbers from the Alexis kit here as well.
