Hi everyone,
Ulli here with you on another Mix-It-Monday. This time I mixed many different die cut shapes and other embellishments from different collections and it was so much fun. I made this layout with a big picture which I cut in many pieces. The idea for cutting the picture in so many little squares was inspired by the amazing Steffi Ried.
I wanted to use the new gorgeous and fresh Amanda collection and so I searched for matching items and found Brooke, Alexis and Bailey Die Cut Shapes to mix with Amanda. I wanted to use the colors blue, green and mustard and of course - FJ like - black and white. First I cut the picture to 10 x 8 inch. Then I cut it in 2 x 2 inch pieces. I glued them on the upper part of my 12 x 12 cardstock in white. To get a playful look I glued the squares crooked and overlapped on my page. I used my glue runner and also 3D dots to get for 8 from 20 pieces more high. I love the dimensional look and so I always love to work with 3D glue dots.
Then I added the title summer story on the bottom of the picture. I used the cute big "Summer" letters from the Amanda Die Cut Shapes and the "True Story" Die Cut Shape from the Brooke collection. I cut the word "true" from the word "story" to get the title summer story in the end. I used 3D dots to to get more dimension at my title.
Then I began to decorate the page. First I added the striped photo corners from the FJ Alexis Die Cuts on the left square above and the right square below. Then I typed with my typewriter the place where the picture was taken on a blue label from the Katherine Label Stickers. I added it with a Polka Dot heart tag from the Brooke collection under the right square on the top. I also added a mint mini wide paper clip there and one of the super cute Amanda Chipboard Bits - the bow - there.
I decorated the page with labels and word stickers from the Brooke and the Kate collections and I used the cute chipboard parasol from last years Elizabeth collection. I wanted to highlight the sea turtle on my picture and so I added there heart die cuts from the Bailey and the Amanda collection on this part of the picture pieces above the turtle. I also used a Lola Die Cut Shape and I glued the striped frame on one of my squared picture parts. There I also used 3D dots. I decorated it with the cute yellow flower sun glasses from the Amanda collection. To add some cute accents I used the "enjoy" puffy sticker from the Denise collection and the "xo" die cut from the Bailey collection on the top.
I stamped the date with the FJ Roller Date stamp on a yellow Katherine label sticker and glued it with 3D dots under my picture. Then I wrote my journaling and printed it out. I cut it into paper strips and glued them under my picture too.
I decorated the tile with black and white Brooke banners and the sweet lemon Die Cuts from the Amanda collection. While I worked on my layout I saw the Amanda Gingham & Bows paper on my table and it was perfect to make a little frame around the white layout. So I cut the white cardstock on two sides 1/4 inch smaller and cut the border from the patterned paper out. I glued my layout on it and used my fingers to distress the paper borders a little bit. At the end I splattered black ink across my page and finish off my page with the cute little Amanda Puffy Shapes, the Brooke Puffy Shapes and the Epoxy Shapes/Hearts from the Bailey collection.
