Sunshine Layout | Mandy Melville

Hi friends,

Mandy here with you today to share a layout using the beautiful Lola kit! I’m in love with the gorgeous florals and the pretty colours in this collection… it’s one of my all time favourite FJ kits, and it was perfect for documenting this cute photo of my youngest daughter Eleanor playing at the playground!

I started my layout off with a scalloped banner cut file, and I backed each of the open sections in the cut file with patterned papers from the Lola collection. I used a combination of both the 6x6 and 12x12 papers, and I focused mainly on the pinks, blues and mints. I decided on using the beautiful mint scallop patterned paper for my background, and I adhered the cut file to the page using foam tape for added dimension.

I printed my photo in black and white as I thought that it would help it to really stand out, and I used a couple of the 3x4 journaling cards to add some layers behind the photo. This is a great way of using the journaling cards if you don’t do pocket page scrapbooking

I wanted to make a feature of the beautiful florals in the kit, and so I did some fussy cutting of the floral patterned paper. I used these flowers to embellish my page, and I LOVE how pretty they look! For my title, I used the word ‘sunshine’ from the Brie Puffy Sticker pack. When I adhered this, I curved it slightly so that it would follow the shape of the cut file.

I added a third floral cluster in the top right hand corner of the layout, and this creates a visual triangle which helps to draw the viewer’s eye around the page. You can also see here that I added another puffy sticker from the Brie kit that says ‘smile’.

I finished the layout off with some little sprinkles of heart confetti, as well as a few of the little butterflies from the Brie kit. I also added some short typed journaling in the bottom right hand corner of the page.

Thanks so much for joining me here today! I hope that you’ve been inspired to create something pretty with your Lola kit!
