Hello again, crafty friends; it’s Lydia today. Can you guys believe that this week is Thanksgiving already?! It’s a little crazy to think that this whirlwind of a year has managed to only have a month left. I know a lot of us aren’t getting to celebrate with our elderly family and friends. We’re unfortunately forced to distance ourselves during a time that we often get to spread the hugs abundantly in thanksgiving for our loved ones. While we might not get to gather our entire families together on Thanksgiving, it doesn’t mean we shouldn’t make our little gatherings less special.
This year on Thanksgiving it will just be my little family and our mother-in-law, but I still wanted it to feel special gathered around the table. It made it even easier to go all out on the table settings. I loved putting together some place cards to make at least our meager table festive despite its occupants.
For these place cards, I pulled out my Taylor paper pack. I chose that great plaid paper, and cut them to 4 x 5 inches. It would make the perfect 2.5 x 4 inch place card to place near each place setting on the table. I decided I wanted to add personalized names to each one, so I also pulled some puffy alphas from my FJ stash.
Next I piled on some die cut banner pieces and some ribbon and textures. I used my sewing machine to stitch them onto my place card. I then layered on a label die cut. The label served the perfect place to really draw the eye to the name on each card.
I finished each card by adding a floral or leaf die-cut to the side and tying it off with some coordinating ribbon. Burlap, tulle, and ribbon make the perfect addition to any place card cluster.
All that is left now is to lay out a gorgeous spread on the table, and these little place cards will blend in beautifully next to our homemade pie and turkey. It might be a meager table, but that doesn’t mean it must be a boring table. In this haphazard year, we have to make the most of even the small details.
Here’s wishing you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving on Thursday, and I hope you’ve left inspired to pull out your FJ stash and mix together something magical!
