Hello FJ fans,
I am here with another Mabel inspiration. Well, this layout I have to say, was something. Let me tell you the whole story. As soon as I spotted the beautiful red and white paper with little hearts in a nordic sweater pattern, I knew I would like to do some stitching! Therefore I went for a square paper (I used the square paper in the kit) and redrew the pattern so that I could use it as a stencil for my layout. At first I wanted to do the same colours, red stitches on white cardstock, but then I spotted black in my paper stash and told myself, oh why not! I don't think I had ever done a black layout before! After piercing the holes I started stitching with white cotton thread and I have to admit that it did take a looooong time. But it was so worth it!
After sewing for a few days here and there I finished the layout in half an hour. I was just adding different paper underneath my photos, found the biggest chipboard alpha in my FJ stash (from Lola collection) and added some white splatters to finish it all off.
It can be tricky to write on a black background and I had to pop into a stationery store to get some white gelpoint pens.
I have to say I surprised myself by getting out of my comfort zone. Plus the black layout truly stands out in our family album. Have you ever tried creating on black?
Have a great weekend, everyone.
