Tips & Techniques: Distress Ink Cards | Laureen Wagener

You're A Star Card by Laureen Wagener | @FelicityJane

Hi friends -

so for my first blog post over here in scrappy heaven I decided to share something that has my hearts - cards! I started with cardmaking and never looked back, it is just a match made in heaven!

For these cards I used the Stamp set from the Felicity kit plus those uber cute star sequins to create a shaker pocket for one of the cards!

Why don't we jump right into the instructions on how to create these cards?!

I started with the little star cluster stamp from the Stamp set and stamped it all over the watercolor cardstock in VersaMark ink. This is a very sticky ink and is perfect for heat embossing. After I stamped it, I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I decided to use four pink/ purple shades of Distress Inks. These inks are water resistant and are perfect for this technique.

Easily smoosh them down onto a slick surface like a craft sheet or mat. Either create stripes or place them randomly on the sheet.

I used a spray bottle with water inside and spritzed it onto the craft sheet - the ink will start to pearl up like shown in the photo.

For the next step I simply smooshed down the card with the embossed side onto the ink and pressed it down. I used a heat gun to dry the entire front side and placed it into the ink where I felt it needed a little extra ink.

I used a star die and die- cut a star out of the cardstock. Don't toss the extra, you can use it for a second card!

To make it a shaker I adhered a transpareny/ sheet of plastic behind my window, stamped my sentiment onto the plastic and created my shaker pocket - for that I used foam mounting tape and tripled it up and then just placed the little star sequins inside. Simply adhere it to your cardbase and it is done.

With the left-over piece I created a second card in the shape of a star to change things up a bit-

I hope you enjoyed this post and I can't wait to be back here by the end of the month!
