Tori Stamp Set: You’re Very Best Friend for Card Making │ Lydia Cost

Hello there, lovely friends! It’s Lydia today, and I’m thrilled to be sharing a pair of cards I created with the Tori collection! It’s hard to choose just one favorite thing from this gorgeous collection, but I’ve found the stamp set to be one of my favorites!

As soon as I saw the amazing birthday sentiments on this month’s stamp set, I knew I could knock out some of the birthday cards that I needed this month. I needed a little something for a little girl, and then one for my gal friend’s 30th birthday. The Tori stamps had the perfect sentiments to lend to the perfect cards.

I decided I’d start with the younger card first. I pulled out the stamp set and chose the birthday cake stamp and cake stand. I really don’t dust off my stamps very often for illustrations, but I really wanted to give these a little love. I had fun stamping the cake with a three layer ombre effect, in a matching color scheme. I then stamped out the cake stand using embossing ink. I chose a pretty sparkly gold embossing glitter, and I love the way it glitters on top of the card.

After I had the cake and stand cut out on white cardstock, I got to work creating my card’s background. For this one I stuffed in a bunch of paper confetti from the collection papers, behind a layer of stitched on tissue paper. This is one of my favorite techniques for any project! I layered my cake on top, and then I stamped directly onto my card with “CELEBRATE” and those oh so cute birthday candles. I finished this one up by using a die to cut a banner from the pretty peach paper in the patterned papers this month.

For my second card, I had fun fussy-cutting some of the gorgeous florals in the Tori collection from one of the journaling cards. I wanted the size of the florals to be smaller, so that I could highlighted the “30” on the card. I started by sponging on some great mustard color ink to my background, to highlight the beautiful color scheme of the florals. Then I used another die to cut another banner, to highlight my stamped sentiment. I chose the “It’s your special day!” for this one, and it fit so perfectly nestled in with those florals.

I picked out my “30” from the amazing die-cut alphas this month; I’m so smitten with these, that I can barely contain my squeals! After nestling it around my florals, I finished off this card by splattering on some black paint, so that I could draw out the black that I’d use to stamp on the sentiment. It turned into such an easy card to create, but I think it’s one of my favorites ever.

I hope the Tori stamp set inspires you to do a little something extra with your birthday greetings this year! It certainly did for me.
