Hello FJ fans,
I have to say I was speechless when the Millie kit landed on my door step! Nothing can beat the physical product! All the cute bits and details. And the colour combo is just so perfect for the "love theme"!
I decided I would make a card but I wanted it to be a bit special. This card is going to be for our grandma and grandad in the UK that we haven't seen since last summer and we miss them so much. I knew I was going to include a photo of the kids somehow so that the grandparents can display the card. I wanted something that would be like a frame and would stand on its own. I have seen these tunnel cards all over the internet and I always wanted to try one. There are so many wonderful tutorials!
I decided I would go without the front cover. I trimmed three pattern papers to 6x7 inch (6 inches tall, 7 inches wide). Then I scored the paper on the sides (1/2 inch on each side) so that I had a square of 6x6. After that I scored the 1/2 inch at 1/4 to be able to attach the papers together. The space between the layers (papers) is 1/4 inch wide.
I love that I can also make this card flat, to post it without problems.
The trickiest part was to place the circle cuts. I went for two different size circles overlapping each other to create a more interesting effect. I had to be careful so that the kids are still visible from different angles.
The fun part? Oh yeah, definitely adding all the beautiful embellishments. I used a few puffy hearts (they are so soft) and the die cut shapes. The scallopy lines under the title LOVE YOU are fussy cut out from the pattern paper.
At the top of the card I added a few tabs. I think it would be also interesting to create the tops of the pattern paper at different heights or decorate them with flowers. Anyway, I was really surprised how it all turned out and I can't wait for the reaction from the grandparents!
Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
