Hi FJ friends!
I hope you are fine and healthy! The coronavirus has us all in its hands at the moment and many of us stay at home with our kids, which are not going to school or to the kindergarten. Social distancing is especially for the smallest of us very hard. My kids are missing their friends so much and many children around the world in these days are painting rainbows in windows or on the street to let other children know that they are also at home and that they are not alone. So I had the idea to do some handicrafts with my children and to make some rainbow cards for the family, friends and neighbors to make them smile in these scary times.
For the blog post today I also made one of these cards too, but also a frame with a rainbow for the front door or as home decor inside and a little bag to fill a present in for someone we are missing - also with this rainbow.
I found this rainbow in my library of my cutting machine and searched for different FJ papers in the colors pink/lilac, blue, green, mint, yellow and orange. I used the following collections: FJ Brooke (pink and green), FJ Bailey (yellow), FJ Shay (mint and blush), and FJ Sarah (blue). I used 12x12 inch patterned papers, but also paper rests from Felicity Jane kits. Then I cut them with my cutting machine and glued all the stripes in the different colors in the rainbow shape. I used FJ Essentials White Cardstock and made six clouds with a cloud metal die. I glued on every beginning and end of every rainbow one of these clouds. Therefore I’ve used 3 D dots to add some dimension.
First I made the card. Therefore I trimmed the FJ Essentials Cardstock to 8x6 inch and folded it in the middle to get a 4x6 Inch card. I used the Felicity Jane Chloé Stamp set and stamped the uplifting phrase "Hello Sunshine“ with black ink on the bottom of the card. Then I glued the rainbow with 3 D glue dots on the card and added two of the super cute FJ Brooke Puffy Shapes. I know which person I want to send this card to and I hope it will make her smile.
For the home decor I used a little wooden frame in the size 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 Inch. I cut some FJ Essentials Cardstock in white and put it into the frame to have a white background. Then I used the sweet Madison Puffy Alphabet in Black and added the words "Stay strong" on the rainbow. I glued it with 3 D dots on the frame and decorated it with 3 little stars from the Brooke Puffy Shapes. I want to hang this frame on our front door, but you can also make one as a present or for a cute home decor in your home that reminds you to stay strong and to be positive!
For the cute little polka dot gift bag I used a cut file from my die cutting machine library too and cut it from the cute Amber "Floral & Dots" paper. I folded it and glued it together. So the bag can be opened later I punched two little holes in the right side of the rainbow and fixed it with grey yarn on the handle of the bag. Because there is a small flap behind the rainbow to open it. I used white cardstock and the Shay Tag Builder Metal Dies and made a cute little tag. Then I stamped the words "Happy Day" from the FJ Chloé stamp set on it and fixed it on the rainbow too. I fixed both with a bow and added some of the cute puffy dots from the Brooke Mini Puffy Shapes. Probably I will fill this paper bag with hand creme for the parched hands from all the hand washing and the hand disinfection in these times.
