Hi there friends! One of the things that I love most about the Felicity Jane kits is that they mix and match so well. How awesome is it that we can go back a few months in our stash and pull out something that matches the newest kit?! That's exactly what I did with this traveler's notebook layout. I mixed and matched the newest June kit with a variety of Mari and Jaimee products.
The first thing that I did was decided on a color palette. That helped me narrow down my kit choices. I went with warm tones such as pinks, peaches, and yellows. Then, I looked through my kits at which ones matched these colors the best. I love a white background most of the time, but I couldn't stop myself from using a woodgrain background here. This paper from the Mari Paper Pack just fit the feel of this layout!
The next thing that I did was look for florals and other embellishments with the same feel. Felicity Jane always has amazing florals, but some look different than others. I loved these florals with bubbly, round edges from the Jaimee Die Cut Shapes so those were my inspiration for all of the embellishments that I chose. I mostly used embellishments with a more rounded edge feeling to them (like scallops, hearts, and ampersands). 
One of my favorite things to do is let a couple of items hang off the page. Usually at the top or toward the top on the side. I don't mind seeing it from other pages in my album, but I do try to keep it where it won't get bumped a lot when the albums are being flipped through. This tab is the perfect example! I actually adhered the backside of the tab to the backside of my patterned paper so I won't have to worry about covering it when I make my next layout in this notebook. And that white scalloped paper? That's packaging! The Felicity Jane packaging is so pretty and scallops were exactly what I needed for this layout. Talk about double duty!
Finally, I added my journaling using clear sticker paper. This is one of my favorite ways to get a lot of words into a small space. It's especially helpful in travelers notebooks. Sometimes, it's difficult to write directly in a travelers notebook because I can't stop myself from using bulky embellishments and that might give me an uneven writing surface. Typed journaling to the rescue! I cascaded a few sentiments from the Mari Stamp Set down the page to connect my photo to the journaling. A few dots from the June Bits & Pieces were the finishing touch here.
