We are Here Pocket Page Layout | Suzanna Stein

Hey crafty pals, Suzanna here with another project using the gorgeous Heidi kit! I’ve been neglecting my 6x8” personal album since starting my weekly pocket pages in a larger 9x12” album. As soon as I received the Heidi kit and saw that gorgeous floral card, I knew I wanted to create a 6x8 pocket page spread with it. So I did!

With that card as my starting point, I began piecing together the rest of my layout. I knew I wanted to tell a story of happiness since the florals in this kit make me so happy! I chose a couple photos, finished picking my cards, and got started.

For the first page, I used a few die cuts to embellish the spaces that needed a little something extra. I also created a pattern using the diamond die cuts and a few diamonds I cut from the floral paper. This brought the florals from the second page over to the first, and gave some fun detail to an otherwise blank card.

You’ll notice I do a little doodle-y border on a couple cards in this layout. I tend to do that when I feel like a card needs something to finish it off, or I need a way to keep the eye from wandering around the card and instead focus on the center of it. I did a black border on the lighter colored cards, and a white border on the darker ones.

On the second page, I used the beautiful mustard alphas for my title. Since this is telling a story about us finding happiness wherever we may be living at the time, “We are Here” seemed appropriate and fit perfectly above the floral cluster!

For the photo card, I used two stamps from the Heidi stamp set to create a pattern on the bottom half of the card. Since I used a dark black ink, I created a mat for my photo with vellum to soften the stamping around it. This also helps create a barrier between the photo and the background, since the bottom half of the photo is so dark.

The two photos in this layout are from two different days, since this layout focuses on a story rather than specific date(s), I dated the layout with the year and explained the story behind each photo. The pages have quite a bit of journaling between the two of them, so I journaled on vellum to soften the dark writing, and placed the two journaling cards on opposite ends of the layout for balance.

I love the way this layout turned out and that it got me back into my personal album! I am already looking forward to creating more 6x8 pocket pages with the Heidi kit. Tell me - do you choose your photos/story first and pick your products based on that, or the other way around? Let’s chat about it in the comments below!

Talk to you soon!

Suzanna
