What's New Pollycat Layout | Suse Fish

I realise it seems a little odd to scrapbook about a cat that doesn’t even belong to you, but our neighbour’s fur baby, Polly, has become such a fun part of our days that I couldn’t resist it. There’s really no escaping her in the street: sociable and affectionate, she appears from nowhere the minute you step outside of the house, ready for a cuddle and tummy-tickle.

My starting point for this page was definitely this striking black and white Brie journalling card: I adore clean, graphic designs like this and knew that I wanted this one to have a starring role on my page. It also helped me tell my story in a simple and fun way.

The title is a play on the Tom Jones classic, “What’s New Pussycat?” and I decided to make it a shaker-pocket title - one of those things that takes some time, but gives such a satisfying result, that it’s well worth it. I love how the black puffy letter stickers really pop out on the gentle background paper.

To say I’ve fallen in love with this Brie kit would be an understatement… I’ve struggled to restrain myself from using every single beautiful item on each project I’ve made so far! The pom-pom trim die cuts and striped bow are by far my favourite pieces, so I’m rather proud of myself for not hoarding them.

And of course, what kind of fussy-cutting project would it be if I didn’t have fun with one of my very favourite techniques, layered butterflies? I decided to snip out some larger cousins to the cuties already in the kit and love the delicate, celebratory vibe they give my page.

I popped my camera on as I made this layout and I really hope you enjoy seeing it come together. See you again very soon, friends!
