I wonder where you start when making a layout? My starting point for this grid-style layout was that beautiful journaling card that says, "So happy together". It had me rifling through my box of photos for one that fitted the sentiment exactly!
We had actually treated ourselves to pizza on this day to cheer ourselves up after receiving some disappointing news. But do you know what? As I looked around the table at my little family, I was reminded of what was really important: we were together.
I took a bit of a gamble with the journaling and let my 7 year-old write it. I showed her the photo and said, "What would you write about that day?" What I love is that she clearly had no idea that anyone was in the least bit disappointed or sad!
It's good to document both the good times and the bad, I think. It's kind of therapeutic to make peace with life's less 'shiny' moments and realise that you got through them okay and the sun did come back out again.

This layout is great! I love the photo and I really like that you let your daughter write the journaling. It’s awesome to me to hear what kids think of things and how they perceive them. Kids can be so funny :)
What a cute picture Suse!! I love so many things about this layout, but what I love the most is how you “roughed up” all the edges of you papers. It adds so much texture and dimension!!
