Hey friends! It’s Kathleen here again and for today’s project the theme was "Celebration". I definitely knew that I wanted to create a layout for it, but since I had already scrapbooked photos from some of the "big" events using my Felicity Jane kits (like my engagement here and some wedding photos here), I wasn’t exactly sure what photo I should use today. So I went through my photo library and came across a very recent photo that I took when my husband surprised me with a super yummy strawberry cake - just because.
And if you’ve been following me for a while, you might know that I am a big fan of scrapbooking the everyday and the little moments. So I thought that this would be the perfect photo to create a "celebrate the little things" kind of page!
As the main element on my layout I used an 8“x10.5“ piece of white cardstock that I cut using a cut file from the Silhouette store. The pattern doesn’t really have anything to do with the photo, I just had it lying around and thought that it would be a nice design element on this page.
I used a few scraps of patterned paper from different kits (I think they are from at least 4 different ones) to back some of the open spots in the die cut. I didn’t want to back all of them because I still wanted a lot of white on my layout. For the colour scheme I just used my photo as an inspiration and picked the paper scraps accordingly.
I then mounted the backed cut file on top of a 12"x12" sheet of white cardstock, trimmed that one down slightly on the edges (to about 11.25"x11.5") and added a patterned paper frame around it using one of the papers from the beautiful Brie kit. I also tucked in two small paper strips on the right side of the large white cardstock to add another pop of colour.
The rest of the layout is rather simple, as I felt that there was already enough going on and I didn’t want to make it too busy. I added my photo cluster on the right side of my cut file, again repeating the colours that are in the patterned papers, and then used the gorgeous Gold Glitter Foam Alpha Stickers from the Kate kit to write my title, which says “Celebrate“. To complete the title, I used the "the little things" phrase stamp from the Zoey stamp set, as well as the three little hearts.
To finish the page off, I added my usual paint splatters and also some more small details that I placed on the die cut design element, like the puffy sticker and flower die cut at the top, and the black label on the left. I also used my sewing machine to add a little bit of stitching.
I hope you enjoyed this layout and are inspired to document some of the "small moments" that are worth celebrating in your life! :)
Thanks for stopping by!
Kathleen
