It’s funny sometimes where you find inspiration, isn’t it? A fellow Felicity Jane team mate ever so kindly sent me a stunning wooden heart embellishment a while back and I’d been holding onto it, waiting for inspiration for the perfect project. When my August Jeana kit arrived, I fell upon the box as usual, rifling through the contents with glee, but then stopped when I came across the sweetest little floral journalling card. Such an adorable print that spoke to me of English gardens, tea parties and wildflowers in jam jars on kitchen windowsills... I suddenly knew that I wanted to use the wooden heart on a layout that had this gentle, homely vibe.
One of my favourite photos ever is of Kitty and I sharing a cuddle after one of her birthday parties. I remember telling her how I proud I was of my shy little girl for coping so well with all her little friends coming over for a tea party. Because I love the image so much, I wanted to 'surround it in beauty’! A task made ever so easy by the stunning embellishments in this month’s kit. The photo just speaks so much to me of being ‘home', safely snuggled up with the ones I love.
I layered up branding strips to create a patchwork feel and of course, ruffled up lots of the edges! Pieces like the scalloped puffy border just add to the soft vintage feel I was aiming for.
As I wanted this page to be an artwork for my wall, I went for even more dimension than usual! I decided to keep the flocked rose cluster on it’s acetate backing for this project, and just fussy-cut it out. I can’t get over how pretty the effect is (and it will take *all* my strength not to hoard the rest of these white flocked flowers!)
And of course I knew exactly which of the gorgeous coloured tassels would be the star of this page - that mint beauty was my favourite from the start and I adore the gentle pop of fresh colour it gives my layout. You can see it come together in the video.
