You’ve Got This Layout with the Jill Collection | Lorilei Murphy

Hello!  Thank you for joining me today.  I am working with the Jill Collection on this layout, and I was inspired by two things for this layout, the vellum pack and the gorgeous vellum pockets that we had received in the Holly Collection and the floral stamp in the Jill stamp set!

I started with a white 8.5x11 piece of cardstock.  I decided to cut out the super cute Felicity Jane houses.  I made sure they were centered on the paper in my Silhouette software so that I could use the leftover paper as part fo the design.  I backed the open houses with the gray floral paper to create a pretty shadow for the houses and windows.  I used foam dots to adhere the houses back into their cut spots.  I love the dimension this creates for the page!

Next up, I made my pocket from the buffalo plaid 6x8 vellum sheet.  It was all I could do to cut into it!!  Who knew such bravery was needed in paper crafting?  I notched the top of the pocket with a circle punch and folded each of the three sides with a 1/4" fold and applied scor tape to the fold.  I made a white tag to fit inside the pocket and added my journaling to the tag.  Originally I thought I would adhere the vellum pocket right to the layout, but I decided to add it to a white backing so that I could raise the pocket with foam.  The area beneath the houses became my focal point. I tucked the photo beside the vellum pocket and added two stamped, and fussy cut florals along with the gorgeous yellow rose die cut.

For finishing touches, I created a hello beautiful banner with the stamp set and paired it with the You've Got This die cut.  It tied all the pocket and floral cluster together and still left plenty of the pretty vellum showing!  At this point, my layout was looking very white, and the houses were not popping enough for my liking.  I added very light washes of grey paint around the edges of the houses and the edges of the floral and pocket.  This small addition brought everything to life!  I finished up with some sketchy pencil lines and some paper butterflies!
