Hello FJ fans,
I hope you are having a great week (The weekend is just around the corner, yay!). I have a slightly different inspiration / project today. At first I wanted to create a few birthday cards but when I opened the box with the kit and all the wonderful colours popped out, I changed my mind. Since the colours are perfect for any girly birthday party (unicorn, mermaid, rainbow...you name it!) I decided to make a birthday decoration. Mind you, our youngest daughter has her birthday still a bit later this year but since it is before Christmas, it is always good to be prepared, right! Plus, our daughter's name is Anna (see, Annie?), so it is just meant to be for sure!
I got totally inspired by my friend who created a rainbow waterfall from punched colourful circles. I just decided to make it a bit more personal by adding the photos and a big title.
First I did all the punching. I used both solid colour papers. Then I created the letters. The lucky ones with a cutting machine will have this done in no time! I drew and cut out the letters myself so it did take a bit of time. Fortunately there are two As and two Ns, two very easy letters to be drawn. And the name is pretty short too. From the white cardstock I cut out the inside of the letters to leave just the white outline and then I backed it with pattern paper (it was hard to choose just four patterns!).
I went for my favourite photos of our daughter and cut them in a circle. The photos are backed with a pattern paper.
Now comes the "funnest" part: sewing all the circles into a chain! Again, those of you that own a sewing machine will save lots of time, I did my stitching by hand .. and totally forgot to use the sequins as well!!! Gosh, those would be perfect to be stitched on the circles as well! Well, next time I need to remember that. Every bottom bit of the letter has a chain of circles so that there are 8 chains attached altogether.
The photoshooting was very interesting as well, since I didn't want to spoil the surprise but I needed a white wall and enought light. But then I gave up, hung it all up on our "birthday wall" (it is our practical wall with two curtain rails - perfect for hanging any birthday decoration and balloons) and tried to take decent photos (why is a white wall is not white in the photos?). I hope you like and I know our daughter likes it a lot.
Thank you so much for being here with me today. Have a lovely rest of the week.
