Quick & Easy Christmas Cards with the Holly Kit | Kathleen Graumüller

Hey friends, it’s Kathleen back with you today. Over the past months it’s almost become a tradition for me to make a set of cards with each Felicity Jane kit, so I obviously had to use the Holly kit to make some Christmas cards! And since the Christmas season can be really stressful and our to-do lists seem to be never-ending, I tried to keep them simple so they are really quick and easy to make and mass-produce.

You can check out the cards I made with the Amber and Hannah kits here and here.

For the first two cards all you need is a white card base, the Holly stamp set and a few different ink pad colors. The one on the right is super simple, but I think very cute. I first stamped the word Christmas from the Holly stamp set with some black ink and then added Merry from last year’s Joy stamp set. If you don’t have that one, you could also use an alphabet stamp set to stamp the word Merry, or add a different word from the Holly stamps, or just use Christmas.

Next I used a soft gray ink pad to stamp the cluster of stars/snowflakes around the sentiment. You could also easily step that card up a notch by heat embossing the sentiment and/or the snowflakes in gold or any color you like onto your card base.

For the card on the left I used a few different ink pads to fill the whole card base with stamps from the Holly and Joy stamp sets. A few tips for creating a card like this: 1) start with the biggest stamp, then move on to the second biggest, etc., 2) assign one ink pad color to each stamp, 3) let some of the images/words run off the card so the pattern looks more natural, and 4) use a small stamp to fill in the empty spots at the end.

For the last card I also used the Holly stamp set, but also some of the papers from the Holly kit. After stamping the sentiment in black ink, I used a circle punch in three different sizes (1.5“, 1.25“, 1“) to punch out four circles from various papers for each size. I then folded all of the circles in half and glued the ones of the same size together to create some Christmas ornaments.

Before adhering the 3D Christmas ornaments to my card base, I used my sewing machine and some gold thread to stitch three lines from where they would “hang“. Next I also stamped a bow from the Essentials Mini Stamp Set 2 above the baubles and finally adhered them to the card. The ornaments can be folded down flat to put the card in an envelope, so you can easily send them via post, too!

You could also use a different punch or die (like hearts, stars or a tree) to cut shapes from the paper and create various ornaments with them. Plus, it’s a great way to use up scraps!

I hope you like these cards and they give you some ideas for how you can use your Holly kit. By the way, the ideas shown for these cards could also be used for your December album, layouts, and more!

I hope you have a great day and a wonderful Christmas season!

Kathleen
