Hey Y’all, Carol here sharing a new favorite layout that I did for my daughter’s childhood album. I originally thought I would fussy cut the florals and layer on the black and white paper but once I got them together I knew I wanted something a bit more bold.
Where the middle of the two 6x12 Patterned pieces meet, I folded them back and then added another little strip of patterned paper to close the gap. I think its super fun to have little bits of the opposite sides peeking out to sort of bind them all together. I also used one of the lovely labels for my stamped title. Again, I originally intended to use the Leatherette alpha stickers but I needed something a bit simpler to keep the “bold “ factor to the lovely papers.
Another thing I did to help smooth the transition was layer my photos across the middle. I super super love the foam stickers from the Mila kit. Oh my goodness. I cannot get enough! Also, wood + glitter= my favorite! Love how the rustic elements and fancy can be friends. ( I might have gotten a bit crazy with my tiny stapler-oops).
More glittery and rustic with a bit of twine from my stash . “Taking More time for:” stamp is one I will use over and over and over. In this case I referenced bare feet and sunshine.
For the journaling on this I used a 3x4 card and popped it in my typewriter. Love that the pattern is just enough to pop but that the typewriting is still legible. I clipped it with one of those darling mini heart clips to keep with the golden accents.
Hope you are inspired to mix and match bold patterns and get your stories told!
Carol
